Tillamook Loaf Love Baby Loaf tour bus

The first time I ever heard of Tillamook cheese was when I was in college in Idaho. One of my roommates was from Oregon and she swore Tillamook was the best cheese ever.

The second time I heard about Tillamook cheese was when I was newly married and my husband and I got into one of those “my state is better than your state” arguments and he brought up Tillamook and how he got to tour their factory and eat free cheese when he lived in Oregon (his family will do anything if it’s free). Incidentally he also brags about Green River Utah melons. Whatever.

The third time I heard about Tillamook cheese was when they invited me out to a tasting party with other local bloggers last week. You bet I wasn’t going to pass this opportunity to find out what all the Tillamook cheese love was all about. Dude, cheese is cheese, right? And then one of the other bloggers ordered me a Dr Pepper and the following conversation began forming in my head (next time I need to lay off the caffeine):

Tillamook Loaf 1

Tillamook Loaf 2

Tillamook Loaf 3

Tillamook Loaf 4

Tillamook Loaf 5

So the big question today remains: “Is Tillamook cheese better than cheese from Texas?” Personally, I have Texan pride and refuse to answer that question publicly, so go get your own and decide for yourself!

There’s some Tillamook fun coming to a city near you! That’s right, the Baby Loaf tour bus (a chopped down, miniature sized 1966 Volkswagen bus) is traveling the nation looking for Tillamook fans and to spread some “Loaf Love”! The Baby Loaf bus will be coming to Dallas, Texas on March 10, 2012 at the Dallas Zoo! See when the Baby Loaf tour bus will be near you!

Beanie Beard Jeebus

Yah, you know, that one creepy looking dude in the ad section that keeps taking a peep at you while you’re wasting time on Facebook. Otherwise known as the Beardo. Pronounced beer-dough.

Thought #1: If you totally want to look like Jeebus, then this beanie is the hottest thing since curried Mexican tacos. You might even get the genius idea while wearing this beanie to spend inordinate amounts of time on Google trying to find the perfect place to live weather wise, then decide San Diego is it but you can’t move there because all you can afford is a cardboard box if you were lucky because the only job in the meantime you can procure includes holding advertising signs on the corner of busy intersections and picking up wannabe ninjas and bringing them home. Thank goodness the bearded beanie has a removable beard.

Thought #2: If Osama were still kickin’ then he probably would have bought one. These things make for really good disguises. How else did he remain on the FBI’s Most Wanted list for so long without being captured? Costumes for Halloween 2012?

Thought #3: WTFudge?! Let’s face it, the Beardo is Weirdo (and oddly gotta-have-it-just-because so). Personally, I like how it makes plain guys look like the Brawny paper towels guy. And all women secretly have a crush on that dude. I can now imagine what my husband would look like in a beard since he can’t grow one. Banks will now have to add a “no bearded beanies inside” poster to their doors. I can finally go to a car repair shop and not get taken advantage of. Imagine Beardo fame the likes of Snuggie love everywhere.

They had me at crazed hobo:

The smartest thing about Texas literature is that as a Texan I can always imagine myself in the story. I can see the landscape, hear the Texan drawl, and taste the local foods. I don’t read many fiction books, but when I do they are almost always certain to take place in Texas or be [...]
