Having my own kids makes Mother’s Day so much more meaningful to me. Lucky me, I have been blessed with three awesome kids that each have their own ways of expressing their love to me.
First there’s the creator–my oldest–who each year makes something new for me. This year it was the ashtray. Well at least that’s what I thought it was when he gave it to me. Remember making those in school when you were a kid? Can’t imagine that happening anymore. Anyway, it’s supposed to be a candy dish. Oops.
Next there’s the beggar–my middle child–who wrote the following on his handmade Mother’s Day card:
“My Mother’s Nice. Since I said that can I have a gum? YOUR CHOICE: Yes or No.”
Then there’s my youngest, the brown-noser, and his homemade Mother’s Day card:
“Ryan loves Mom. Moms loves Ryan. I love Mom. I love Ryan. I love You. Mom loves me. Loves hugs.”
By the way that was his seventh card to me in three days.
Other things we did on Mother’s Day this year:
Breakfast in Bed consisting of waffles I made the day before. (I made about 40 of them and froze them because I hate it when my husband makes eggs. And he always makes me eggs for Mother’s Day.) We also went on a 3 mile bike ride (the boys have a lot of energy) including a two-hour stay at a local park with a merry-go-round. We spun the kids so fast they went flying through the air. But they wanted more of it so we obliged. It was the best entertainment we’ve had in a while. We then road our bikes home (it was dark by then), ate some dinner real quick, and put the kids to bed. Finally, my husband and I sat down to watch a movie together. We watched Fire in the Sky, mostly because Love Can Build a Bridge isn’t on Netflix instant streaming. Lucky husband. I now believe in aliens and don’t ever want to visit Snowflake, Arizona. Funny thing is we almost moved there when we first got married.
2010 Mother’s Day HERE. I have no idea what happened to last year’s post.
Also, tomorrow I’m going to Atlanta, Georgia for the Conversations with Coca-Cola Conference with several other bloggers, including Lori from A Day in Motherhood whom I’m excited to meet (we talk on Facebook, but we’ve never actually met)! It’s an all expense paid trip. Also, I told them I drink Dr Pepper so don’t think I sold myself out y’all. More about the trip tomorrow!
